Candy Cane Snowman

Welcome to week 6 of my 12 weeks of Christmas blitz.

Punch Art Snowman

Supplies used for this project:

  • Stamps: Snow Day
  • Ink: Versamark, Black Stazon Ink, Pool Party Classic Ink, Pumpkin Pie Stampin’ write Marker
  • Paper: Pool Party, Basic Black, Whisper White CS, Winter Frost Specialty Designer Paper
  • Accessories: 1″ Square Punch, Word Window Punch, 1 3/8″ Circle Punch, 1 3/4″ Circle Punch, 1 1/4″ Circle Punch, Paper snips, Make a Mitten (MDS), sponge dauber, 1/8″ Basic Black Taffeta Ribbon, Cherry Cobbler Seam Binding Ribbon, Stamping Dimentionals, Iridescent Ice emboss powder, Bone Folder, Heat tool
  • Other: Candy Cane, Hot Glue Gun

Dimensions:

  • Pool Party:  29cm x 14.5cm (11 1/2″ x 5 3/4″)
  • Winter Frost Specialty Designer Paper 13.7cm x 13.7cm (5 3/8″ x 5 3/8″)
  • Basic Black CS: 13.9cm x 13.9cm (5 1/2″ x 5 1/2″), Scrap piece
  • Whisper White CS: Scrap
  • Cherry Cobbler Seam Binding Ribbon: 6cm (2 1/2″)
  • 1/8″ Basic Black Taffeta Ribbon: 2 x 3cm piece (2″)

 

Step-by-Step Directions

Step 1: Fold the 29cm x 14cm piece of Pool Party CS in half, with a bone folder. Set aside for a moment

Step 2: Centre and stick the 13.7cm x 13.7cm piece of Winter Frost Specialty Designer Paper to the 13.9cm x 13.9cm piece of Basic Black CS, using double sided adhesive.

Step 3: Centre and stick the matted 13.9cm x 13.9cm piece to the card base using Stampin’ Dimensionals

Step 4: Stick the candy cane to the card,  using hot glue

Step 4

Step 5: Punch out a circle from a scrap piece of Whisper White CS, using a 1 1/4″ Circle punch. This will be the snowman’s head. Punch out a circle from a scrap piece of Whisper White CS, using a 1 3/8″ Circle punch. This will be the middle of the snowman. Punch out a circle from a scrap piece of Whisper White CS, using a 1 ¾” Circle punch. This will be the base of the snowman.

Step 6: Stamp the buttons onto the 13/8″” Whisper White CS circle, as shown, using Black Stazon Ink using Snow Day Stamp Set

Step 7: Punch out an oval from a scrap piece of Basic Black CS, using the Word Window punch, Punch out a square from a scrap piece of Basic Black, using a 1″ Square punch.

Step 8: Stick the punched out oval to the bottom of the 1″ square piece of Basic Black CS, to create the snowman’s hat, using double sided adhesive.

Step 9: Sponge the edges of all three Whisper White CS circles, using a sponge dauber and Pool Party Classic ink.

Step 10: Pat the surface of each of the Whisper White CS circles with VersaMark ink.

Step 11: Sprinkle Iridescent Ice embossing powder of each of the Whisper White CS circles. Tap off the excess embossing powder. Heat each circle with a heat tool, until the embossing powder has melted.

Step 11

Step 12: Stick the various pieces of the snowman’s body to the left hand side of the card base, so that the snowman is sitting on the candy cane sled, using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Step 13: Stick a piece of 1/8″ Basic Black Taffeta Ribbon to each side of the middle section of the snowman, for his arms, using hot glue. You may need to trim these a bit shorter with paper snips.

Step 14: Print mittens from Make a Mitten digital download in My Digital Studio (MDS) and cut leaving a slight boarder around each image using paper snips

Step 15: Stick the cut out mitten’s to the ends of the arms, using Stampin’ Dimensionals

Step 16: Stamp the nose image from Snow Day Stamp set onto scrap piece of Whisper White CS and cut leaving a slight boarder around the image using paper snips

Step 17: Stick the top of the snowman body to the card front using stampin’ dimentionals

Step 18: Stick the hat on top using stampin’ Dimentionals

Step 19: Stick the nose to the head of the snowman, using a small piece of a Stampin’ Dimensional.

Step 20: Stick the piece of Cherry Cobbler seam binding ribbon to the snowman, as shown in the picture, creating the scarf, using hot glue. You’re Done!
