Heat Embossing on Vellum
Patterned paper is just one of the little joys of being a card maker. (The colours! The designs!) In fact, many of us collect patterned paper! However, sometimes it isn’t easy incorporating busy patterns onto small cards. That’s where vellum works wonders in creating perfectly patterned cards.
I’ve heat embossed my greeting from Thankful Thoughts Stamp Set in Versamark Ink and then heat embossed with White Embossing Powder. Using the 2nd largest die from the Banner Framelits to cut out my greeting.
I’ve finished it off by wrapping some Whisper White Baker’s twine across the top of my greeting and adhering my greeting to my patterned paper using liquid glue. This way you’re able to hide the adhesive by placing it directly behind the Baker’s twine.
Tricks & Tips
- Ensure your heat tool is hot before melting your embossing powder, this will prevent the vellum from warping
- If the vellum is getting too hot, move the heat away for a few seconds and then try heating a different area, this will help prevent warping on the vellum
