Creating One- Layer Card

Creating One-Layer Card

Card making at it’s simplest is a one-layer card.  While one-layer cards are the simplest form of card making, they can also be very intimidating when you go to create them.  Just one layer – no embellishments, no ribbons, no additional printed papers.  How do you create cards without all your favourite supplies?

The first step in creating a one-layer card is to keep it simple.  Of course the term simple can represent very different styles. Think about a great image and the perfect sentiment and go from there.  Don’t worry about whether your printed paper  matches your ribbon.  In fact, the main supplies you will need for one-layer card creations are usually cardstock, stamps, ink or markers.

Sometimes, coming up with a great clean-and-simple design can be as easy as limiting yourself to fewer—yes, I said “fewer”—supplies. Limitations have a way of sparking the imagination, encouraging you to consider different ways to use what you have; in other words, less can actually be more!

In today’s project I have used the Work of Art Stamp Set, I’ve taken one image and stamped it multiple times onto my project using a rainbow of colours.  The ink colours I have used are Melom Mambo, Crushed Curry, Pumpkin Pie & Blushing Bride.

I wanted to add a bit of bling,  because every card must have some sort of bling, right?  I’ve changed to colour of my rhinestone by colouring them in using a yellow sharpie marker.
