Stamped Emboss Resist + Watercolour Wash

You might already be familiar with the emboss resist technique (adding ink on top of an embossed image), but did you know it works really well with watercolours, too? I’ve created a very pretty background using this technique and just few shades of inks. The stamped and embossed background resisted the watercolours beautifully! So cool!

Supplies

I often get asked about the supplies I use so below you will find a list and link to each item in my online store.

Product List

Directions

  1. Stamp butterfly image in Veramark ink onto Watercolour paper.  Heat Emboss with White Embossing Powder.
  2. Using the largest Water Painter create a water wash over the embossed image.  Be careful not to go to the edge
  3. Add a few drops of Coastal Cabana, Bermuda Bay & Pacific point onto a craft sheet or an acrylic block to use as a colour palette.
  4. Add some water to the Coastal Cabana ink with your water brush and pick up some colour and gently apply to top 3rd of the embossed image.  As you’ve already created a water wash you will notice the colour bleeding within the water wash area. Clean your Water Painter by wiping it back and forth onto a scrap piece of paper or paper towel to remove the colour.
  5. Add some water to the Bermuda Bay ink with your water brush and pick up some colour and gently apply to the middle portion of the embossed image, blending slightly into the Coastal Cabana ink.  Clean your Water Painter
  6. Add some water to the Pacific Point ink with your water brush and pick up some colour and gently apply to the bottom 3rd  portion of the embossed image, blending slightly into the Bermuda Bay ink.  Clean your Water Painter
  7. Stamp greeting onto Vellum Cardstock in Versamark Ink.  Heat Emboss with White Embossing Powder.
  8. Wrap Embossed greeting around the watercolour panel approx. 1” from the bottom. And adhere to the back.
  9. Adhere Watercolour panel to Black CS with SEAL Adhesive.
  10. Adhere matted CS to Pacific Point Cardbase with SEAL adhesive.
  11. Colour Basic Pearls with Black Stampin’ Blends, and adhere to card front as shown in photo.  You’re Done!

Your Turn

Now it’s your turn to make! Start by getting your supplies ordered and gathered. The joy of ordering through me is that you don’t have to get in your car! The supplies come to you, just begging to be used.

And get this…I have actually found that the items I buy online get used more! I don’t know if it’s the anticipation of the items arriving or whether it’s that I know they are coming so I plan ahead with some scheduling, but they just do.

What about you? Leave me a comment and let me know.
