Use Those Scraps

What do you do with the odd mix of your extra pieces or scraps of paper, die cuts, random bits of pieces from projects that you accumulate over time.  For me I look for opportunities for these and I challenge myself I also challenge you to come up with ways to use them.

I am like the rest of you; I have a couple of boxes of scraps from past projects that have gathered on my desk. There’s a small box of papers and a tin full of random embellishments, a few stamped images and bits of ribbons. These things have been accumulating for months and haven’t made it off my desk and onto a project yet.  So what can I do with these mismatched pieces?

Today’s projects started with the need to use some of my ever accumulating scraps of cardstock and patterned paper.  Using my 3/4″ circle punch I cut approx 5-6 circle of each Tempting Turquoise and Rich Razzleberry Cardstock and 5-6 circle of Pumpkin Pie and Melon Mambo Designer Series Paper Scraps from the Festive Birthday Designer Series Paper.

I stamped my greeting from ‘Tin of Cards’ Stamp Set in the bottom right hand corner using Black Memento Ink. I’ve adhere my dots randomly across the Cardbase approx 2cm up from the bottom.

To add a bit of interest to the card, I’ve raised the Pumpkin Pie and Tempting Turquoise circle up using Stampin’ Dimensionals and stuck the remaining dots using multi-purpose liquid glue. This is a very quick and easy project to reproduce.

Storing my Scraps

Whether you have the most extensive collection of card-making materials or the most limited, if your supplies are not organised, you will waste a lot of money buying things you forget you have or cannot locate.

I keep cardstock & patterned Paper scraps together (an envelope for each colour/ paper pack works great) and check these first when you need just a small piece to use in your card design.
