Watercolour Background with Heat Embossing

Watercolour Background with Heat Embossing

I recently sent out an email asking you what projects or techniques they would like to see in upcoming project tutorials.  Many of you had asked for simple watercolour techniques, so over the next couple of weeks I will be sharing with you just that… a variety of watercolour techniques that anyone can do. That’s where today’s card started. I decided to create a watercolour background with heat embossing.  But first I needed a greeting, and large one would work perfectly so as  I was filing through my stash of stamp set that I’ve been meaning to use when I came upon the So Very Much from our current Sale-a-Bration items (Earn yours free with a $90 Purchase)

I watercoloured the background using Dapper Denim, Marina Mist & Soft Sky Classic Ink Refills and then splattered some gold ink using my Gold Wink of Stella Pen and just flicking the colour with my fingers across the background.

The greeting was stamped in VersaMark ink and embossed using Gold Embossing Powder

Tricks & Tips

  • Tape your watercolour paper down to something solid, I use a small clipboard, but chipboard from the backing of patterned paper, or to your grid paper on your desk will work also.
  • If you ever feel your paper is getting too dry to let you work with the colours easily, brush over the paper with a damp brush or lightly spritz the paper with water using a spritzer.
