Weekend Challenge: Patterned Paper
Weekend Challenge: Patterned Paper
It’s been raining here for the past week perfect weather for crafting. However, our little town received 226mm in three days which caused a lot of flooding. Although we are safe, other parts of town were not. Many were evacuated from their homes, others were stranded on property with no way in or out. Roads were blocked from all directions. Despite all the water, everyone was in high spirits and enjoying the long awaited needed rain.
With so much water and nowhere to go, gave me the perfect opportunity to sit down and complete our first Weekend Challenge.
What is the Weekend Challenge
Getting over the blank-page hurdle is often the hardest part of being creative. By participating in the Weekend Challenge you will exercise your “getting started” brain power. With every challenge, you will stretch your thinking and hopefully learn to find unexpected inspiration in the world around you.
Each week, on Friday, I will post a weekly weekend challenge in our Facebook Group (Click HERE to Join) – this could be a Clean & Simple Challenge, Try a new technique, Colour combination, Card Sketch or a new way to use current stamping tools
How it Works
– A new challenge will be posted every Friday afternoon in our Facebook Group (approx. 2pm). There is no time limit; this is not a contest and no prizes will be awarded. However, you maybe featured on my blog (with your permission of course)
– This challenge is all about fun. I will give no criticism about how you interpreted the inspiration piece (actually I like the long stretches because it helps demonstrate that you can get just the ‘kick’ you need from anything around you even if it ends up totally different than how you expected).
– Upload your card to the weekly challenge thread in our facebook group for all to see, feel free to comment and like others projects.
Weekend Challenge 01
Try to find ways to use Patterned Paper in your work. You can make anything you wish and use the SU designer series paper or just plain any printed or scrapbooking papers you have on hand. These papers can add a fun, quick and easy way to jazz up your work. Have fun and don’t forget to put WC01 in your keywords section when you upload and post a link back to this thread. As always, there are no time limits and feel free to add some tips or techniques in this thread as well.
My project today, I’ve created a weaving patterned using the Picture Perfect Party DSP Pack. To create the weaving pattern, I cut strips of Pattern Paper 1″ wide and laid them in opposite directions across each other to create the weaving look.
My greeting is from Picture Perfect Birthday Stamp Set, and is heat embossed in silver embossing powder. Cut the greeting out using Layed Circle Framelit dies.
Check out my Patterned Paper Online class for other ideas on how to use your Designer Paper differently.
